Gawker Still “Defending” Itself Against DDoS Attack

While Twitter recovers from today’s Denial of Service attack, Jalopnik’s editor-in-chief Ray Wert has alerted us this evening that Gawker Media is still thwarting off its own that began Monday and has yet to let up.

Wert, who originally notified us that Germans were the culprits, now says, “The attack that crippled us? We’re still defending ourselves from it right now and have been since Monday. It intensified today and it seems logical there may be a relationship between our attack and the ones today. Monday’s Gawker attack may very well have been the first salvo in something much larger — which may be what we’re seeing today.”

A couple of hours ago, Gawker don Nick Denton Tweeted a link to a malware blog that details the DDoS problem Gawker is experiencing.

Mashable’s Ben Parr writes that this week’s events could indicate “cyber warfare”. Whatever the case may be, as the band Anthrax once said, the threat is real.
