Olive oil brand California Olive Ranch has named agency Argonaut its creative agency of record.

Argonaut, which is based in San Francisco and New York, will oversee strategic and creative leadership of the California Olive Ranch brand story to drive awareness and differentiation in a quick growing category.

The olive oil category is rising fast, with U.S. household penetration on a growth trend, projected to be a $13.3 billion industry by 2028 and new players like Graza, Yiayia and Brightland entering the mix. California Olive Ranch is currently the No. 2 player in the U.S. in extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), which is 75% of the olive oil market.

“As our business grows, we were looking for a partner who could help us take the heart and soul of this amazing brand and scale it into a true household name. Argonaut impressed us from moment one. Not only did we feel an immediate chemistry and sense of partnership, but their strategic methodology and the way they unlock creativity was remarkably akin to the way we view building timeless brands, so we are excited to hit the ground running,” said Stuart Beck, CMO, California Olive Ranch in a statement.

The announcement comes on the heels of Argonaut being chosen as creative AOR for two brands within the Pernod Ricard USA portfolio, Jeffersons Bourbon and Codigo 1530 Tequila, founded by country star George Strait.

It’s not everyday that you’re entrusted to build a brand story for a product currently sitting on your kitchen counter, so this opportunity was wildly exciting for us. The California ethos is alive and well in this brand that is full of passion, soul, and uncompromising standards. We’re eager to share it with the masses,” said Katie Miller, chief growth officer at Argonaut in a statement.

In addition to EVOO, California Olive Ranch also makes marinades, sauces and dressings.
