Today in News We Missed Earlier This Summer, BBDO’s Atlanta office signed Rhea Hanges (portfolio here) as its newest creative director two months ago.

The agency chose not to announce the new hire, as is their style.

Hanges joins the Omnicom team south of the Mason-Dixon from Havas New York, where she served as an associate creative director for more than three years and led creative on the Keurig brand. During her time at Havas, she also created work for such clients as Dos Equis and Mondelez while contributing to new business pitches and earning rave reviews from now-former CCO Darren Moran and others. She also began sharing some of her personal insights under the #Rheaism hashtag.

Prior to joining Havas in 2012, Hanges was a senior art director at J. Walter Thompson Germany for two years. During her time there, she led creative on the Kraft account for the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and African markets and launched the Hamburg office’s “Innovation Lab.”

Previous roles for Hanges, who earned her BFA from New York’s School of Visual Arts, include more than three years as an art director at mcgarrybowen New York in addition to internships at Publicis and TBWA.

Hanges is a former student/current instructor at Miami Ad School whose campaigns have earned honors at Cannes, D&AD, and other assorted awards shows. In the new role, she will be working on campaigns for AT&T and other as yet unnamed BBDO clients.

The new hire follows a few rounds of staffing changes preceded by the 2014 appointment of former Best Buy svp of marketing/current president and CEO Drew Panayiotou, who has emphasized efficiency during his tenure to date.

Former Atlanta chief Gill Duff now runs advertising partnerships for Nashville’s NC2 Media.
