The Dayton Literary Peace Prize Foundation has announced the titles that made it onto the fiction and nonfiction shortlists for the 2016 Dayton Literary Peace Prize. We’ve posted the full list below.
The two winners and two runners-up will be announced on October 11. The winners will each receive $10,000 in prize money while the runners-up will get $2,500.
Sharon Rab, co-chair of the Dayton Literary Peace Prize Foundation, gave this statement in the press release: “Many of this year’s finalists explore the contradictory strength and fragility of the family bond, and the threat that external forces such as poverty, war, and prejudice can place on that bond. Through these narratives we explore the sources of conflict within the family but also what our immediate relationships can teach us about healing and reconciliation in the larger world.”
