George W. Bush Inks Deal With Crown For an Art Book

George W. Bush 200 (GalleyCat)George W. Bush has signed a deal with the Penguin Random House division, the Crown Publishing Group. The 43rd President of the Untied States has been working on an art book entitled Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors. Laura Bush, the former first lady, and Peter Pace, a general, have agreed to write forewords.

Bush (pictured, via) created Portraits of Courage to honor members of the military and veterans. He painted 66 portraits and a four-panel mural for this book. The publication date has been scheduled for February 28, 2017.

Here’s more from the press release: “President Bush will donate his net author proceeds from Portraits of Courage to the George W. Bush Presidential Center, a non-profit organization whose Military Service Initiative works to ensure that post-9/11 veterans and their families make successful transitions to civilian life with a focus on gaining meaningful employment and overcoming the invisible wounds of war…The paintings in the book will be the subject of a special exhibition at the George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, also titled Portraits of Courage, which will be open to the public from March 2 through early October 2017.
