Ben Barnes has signed on to star in The Punisher series. The Independent reports that neither Netflix nor Marvel have announced the role that Barnes (pictured, via) will play.
This series will star Jon Bernthal as the titular antihero. The character (a.k.a. Frank Castle) was first introduced in the second season of the Daredevil series.
Here’s more from International Business Times: “Although details of the character Barnes plays are being kept under wraps by Marvel, speculation suggests that he may essay the role of Bobby Saint, a corrupt crime prodigy played by James Carpinello in the 2004 movie titled The Punisher. In the film, Saint gets killed by Castle during an arms deal. When he dies, his father and mob boss Howard Saint orders to kill Castle and his entire family in order to exact vengeance.” (via TVLine)
