Jackson ABC affiliate WAPT has named Yve Jones news director. She begins at the station January 4.
“16WAPT is fortunate to welcome a news director with Yve’s extensive experience,” said general manager Mike Neelly. “Yve has been with Hearst for 11 years and has exceptional leadership skills and strong news instincts. Yve is perfectly suited to build on our strong ratings growth and momentum.”
Jones arrives from KHBS/KHOG in Fort Smith, where she has been assistant news director. She previously worked at WDSU in New Orleans and WISN in Milwaukee.
At WAPT, she replaces Ben Hart, who moved to WISN as news director.
“It is an honor to be chosen to lead the talented news team at 16 WAPT,” said Jones in a statement released by the station. “It’s a privilege to serve the people of Central Mississippi. I look forward to calling this region my home.”
