Jonathan Martin will be joining Atlanta NBC affiliate WXIA as a news anchor.

He will co-anchor 11Alive News at 4 p.m. alongside Faith Jessie when the show debuts in September.

Martin comes from KRIV in Houston where he spent seven years as an evening news anchor.

During his time in Houston, Martin created several community initiatives including Beyond the Game, a high school program to empower young men in underserved communities, and SWEAT TX, a fitness initiative with the city of Houston that focused on addressing the city’s obesity epidemic. Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner declared June 8, 2023 as Jonathan Martin Day, in recognition of his consistent work in the community.

Martin grew up in Southwest Atlanta and graduated from Arlington Christian High School in Fairburn. Both his parents are active in the Atlanta-area community. His mother founded the non-profit Just Us Girls, and his father has been an entrepreneur for more than 30 years and serves on several non-profit boards.

“It’s exciting to return to my roots and my family,” said Martin. “I’m also eager to get active in the community. There’s just something special about serving in a city that helped develop me into who I am.”
