WTVO Welcomes Eric Wilson as Anchor

By Kevin Eck

Eric Wilson made his debut on WTVO in Rockford, Ill., last night.

Wilson was let go from NBC affiliate WREX in 2014 after 19 years there. He’ll replace Nick Toma when he leaves the ABC affiliate to work at WBRE in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

“When I abruptly departed my last job in television, it wasn’t my choice,” Wilson said on-air last night. “I was not allowed to say, ‘Thank you,’ or ‘Goodbye.’ Now I get a chance to say, ‘Hello!’ While I’m very excited, I’m a little bit nervous, too.”
