Veteran WSMV reporter Dennis Ferrier “was ordered off the air and out of the newsroom” yesterday, according to The Tennessean.

Staffers at the Nashville NBC affiliate told the paper “Ferrier, who declined comment Wednesday, was told to leave the station the day he got back from his father’s funeral in California.”

Ferrier had worked at the station for 23 years.

We asked news director Jim Gilchriest to confirm the news, but haven’t heard back. We’ll update when we do.

Here’s a Facebook post about the death of Ferrier’s father.
