WNCN in Raleigh-Durham Announces New Morning News Team

Raleigh-Durham CBS affiliate WNCN has a new weekday morning news team.

Brea Hollingsworth (pictured center) joins Bill Young (left) as co-anchor of the station’s morning news. Laura Smith (right), who has been the weather and traffic anchor at the station since 2019, takes over as meteorologist.

“We’re excited to have Brea join CBS 17 News This Morning. Her energy and passion for local news that matters are a great addition to mornings,” said news director Ed Trauschke.

Hollingsworth will continue reporting for the afternoon newscasts. Before joining the station in 2021, she spent four years at WINK in Fort Myers, Fla.

Smith has a degree in Meteorology from Mississippi State. Before coming to Raleigh and spent three years at WCBD in Charleston, S.C.

“Over the last several years Laura’s been an important part of CBS 17 News This Morning,” said Trauschke. “She knows and cares about the people of the Raleigh/Durham/Fayetteville area and will continue working to ensure our viewers have their forecast first every morning and their weather every ten minutes.”

Young will continue co-anchoring the morning and noon news.
