WLEX Anchor Nancy Cox Taking Leave of Absence From Lexington Station

By Kevin Eck

Nancy Cox has announced she will be taking a leave of absence from Lexington, Kentucky NBC affiliate WLEX starting on Thursday, July 27.

“There are some personal things I need to address that I just can’t do while I’m here at work,” Cox told viewers in Monday’s 6 p.m. newscast. “[There are] people I need to take care of [and] issues I need to take care of.”

Cox joined WLEX in 1992 as a reporter and anchor and moved to the main anchor desk, which the station said played a key role in it becoming the number one rated newscast in the market. In 2022, the station celebrated her 30-year anniversary.
