KCEN reporter Emani Payne is OK after she says a man pulled a gun on her while she was covering a story over the weekend.
In a lengthy Facebook post, Payne, who is an MMJ, said she was doing a follow on a story in a high crime area. When she noticed some violent activity begin, she began walking away.
“As I tried to head back to my news car I was approached by a man who pulled a gun out on me in an attempt to harm me and prevent me from leaving with the car. I left the car behind and ran and didn’t stop until I found a store to hide out in and call for help,” she said.
Payne said a police report was filed and a detective was assigned to the case. The anchor-reporter thanked viewers on Sunday night for their support after telling her story.
“Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” she said.
