Cincinnati morning anchor John Lomax is retiring after nearly 40 years with CBS affiliate WKRC.
On April 29, Lomax will close a chapter that began in 1983 when he started at the station as a reporter. He was named morning anchor in 1990. At the time, he said he thought he would move on from the station after a few years.
“You know, I came here thinking that this station was a stepping stone to my next job, that I’d head somewhere else in the country after a few years,” said Lomax. “Yet, after I arrived, I just fell in love with the place and never really wanted to leave. It has been a great experience. I love what I do yet, honestly, I’m looking forward to taking some time for myself now. Sleeping in and connecting with family are going to be at the top of my to do list.”
“We are incredibly fortunate to know and work with John. His personality and talent speak for themselves,” said senior vp and general manager Jon Lawhead. “He’s a valued member of our morning team and he’ll most certainly be very much missed, not only by the Greater Cincinnati community but also by everyone here at the station.”
