Veteran Anchor Allison Seymour Heads to Rival D.C. Station Less Than Three Months After Leaving Fox 5

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

Allison Seymour left the morning show at Fox 5 D.C. in August after 21 years. Now, she’s back on television.

The longtime anchor has joined D.C.’s WUSA, the Tegna station in the market, where she’ll be appearing on the morning news show, Get Up DC!

The show, which airs live weekdays from 4:25-7 a.m., is hosted by Reese Waters and is co-anchored by Tony Perkins and Annie Yu, who like Seymour are former FOX 5 anchors.

Her first day on the job was today.

“Something really special is happening at WUSA9 and on Get Up DC!” Seymour said in a statement. “I love what I do and couldn’t be more excited to join my friends Annie and Tony as we bring you everything you need to know to get your day started off right while lifting you up. Get Up DC! is truly different and better than any local news I’ve seen—it’s a smart, funny, inspirational, informative and a uniquely D.C. morning show. I look forward to starting this next chapter with Get Up DC! and the amazing team at WUSA9.”

Seymour will be a familiar face to viewers, as she’s spent more than two decades in the DMV.

“Allison Seymour is an extraordinary talent,” said Michael Valentine, WUSA9 vp and station manager. “She is smart and engaging on-air and on-line. Allison brings her authentic self, her deep connection to our community and her uplifting lens on local news and life to Get Up DC! We are truly honored and thrilled that she will be joining us at WUSA9.”
