Tom Britt to Retire from WBBJ After More than 20 Years

By Kevin Eck

WBBJ anchor Tom Britt is retiring from the Jackson, Tenn. ABC and CBS affiliate on Friday.

Britt announced his retirement a few weeks ago. He’s worked at the station for more than 20 years and currently produces and anchors the morning, Midday and Noon newscasts. Before working at WBBJ, Britt spent 21 years in local radio.

The station posted tributes to Britt from former colleagues on its website. Former sports reporter and anchor Greg Hammond told Britt, “You’ve had a hand in the progress of many, many journalists, just with your professionalism and demeanor,” said Hammond. “So just want to say thank you from your time in both radio and TV, news and sports, you career is the stuff of dreams.”
