Hello Friends….
For the past several months, I’ve reported on the Coronavirus Pandemic and how it’s affected Laredo families. Now, COVID-19 has become all too real, because last week I was diagnosed positive for COVID-19. I am now experiencing the disease from a patient’s point of view. I’ve decided to share my diagnosis with everyone because as a journalist what better story to tell than your own? Despite the diagnosis, I consider myself one of the lucky ones because my symptoms are not severe. Nevertheless, not too severe doesn’t mean not bad. In addition to me, 6 other members of my family are also dealing with the virus. I’ve been killing myself trying to figure out how I could’ve contracted this. I followed social distancing rules, wore masks while out, limited public outings to essential places and still I got it. My doctor says there are so many asymptomatic people walking around and it’s a huge risk to everyone. I am using this opportunity to plead with people to stay home, use your masks, and follow all health guidelines. Anything is better than nothing. I ask to be kept in your prayers. Please be safe. We will persevere.

According to the station, half of the employees who have contracted the virus are recovering at home and are experiencing mild symptoms.

Garza also did an interview with the station about his diagnosis and quarantine.
