Joel Davis has been promoted to general manager of Scripps San Diego ABC affiliate KGTV.
Davis started at the station in 2009 as news director and was named station manager in 2014.
“Joel is an award-winning journeyman in the news industry,” said Brian Lawlor, svp of Scripps broadcast division. “He has spent his career traveling much of the country learning this business from both the content and the sales side. He personifies the Scripps mission with his concentration on journalistic excellence and his creative solutions for supporting businesses in the San Diego area. We have seen him flourish in each new professional opportunity, and I believe that will continue for him as leader at KGTV.”
Before joining KGTV, Davis worked at WFTV in Orlando as managing editor. He’s also worked at KFSN in Fresno, Calif., and news director of KBAK in Bakersfield.
