Anchor Ryan Schulteis will co-anchor a new 9 p.m. newscast when it debuts in January on Boston station WHDH.

WHDH’s Jadiann Thompson announced last week she’d be adding anchor duties on the 9 p.m. newscast as well.

“They are a dynamic team that will help us bring viewers an innovative new option in late night news,” said WHDH news director Linda Miele. “This is an incredible opportunity for all of us as we work together to do something that has never been done in Boston.”

The new newscast comes as WHDH prepares to launch expanded news coverage after it loses its NBC affiliation on January 1st.
