Rob Koebel Releasing Documentary on His Struggle with Alcoholism

Rob Koebel, the former WTMJ investigative reporter who was arrested for urinating outside an Apple store in 2012, is back in the spotlight. The former broadcast journalist turned to acting in recent years, with bit parts in series like USA Network’s “Necessary Roughness” and CBS’ “Under the Dome”. Now, Koebel is releasing a documentary focused on his struggle with alcoholism.

Shattered: A True Story, is about how, “One drunken night at bar and a trip to the Apple Store cost an Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter his job, his wife, his dignity and how the truth in his recovery has set him free.”

Koebel’s ex-wife, CNN anchor Christi Paul, wrote a tell-all book, Love Isn’t Supposed to HurtWithout naming names, she said she endured severe emotional abuse at the hands of her husband. Paul talked about it again recently on CNN in the wake of the Ray Rice abuse story. In the trailer for the documentary, Koebel claims that, ‘When I was getting divorced, I just didn’t want to feel the pain, and I didn’t know how to deal with those issues. So I drank.”
