Omaha’s KMTV announced this week that it has named Al Carl as its News Director. The Journal Broadcast-owned CBS-affiliate recruited Carl from Kansas City, MO, where he worked as an Executive Producer for both the Fox and NBC affiliates.

“Al’s breadth of experience and knowledge of best practices from throughout the country will be great assets to his team members here at the station and all of our KMTV viewers,” said Rob Burton, Vice President and General Manager of Journal Broadcast Group’s Omaha Operations.

It is a homecoming for Carl, who grew up in Gretna, NE, just outside of Omaha. He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in journalism. His first day at KMTV will be March 1.

“I look forward to working with the excellent news, sales and management teams at Action 3 News in Omaha,” Carl said in a news release. “I am thrilled to be coming back to my home state to be a part of the Action 3 News team!”
