Olivia Garvey Joins KNBC as Weekend Sports Anchor

Olivia Garvey has been named sports anchor for Los Angeles NBC-owned station KNBC.

Starting in March, Garvey will join news anchors Kathy Vara and Jonathan Gonzalez, and meteorologist Stephanie Olmo on the station’s weekend newscasts at 5, 6, and 11 p.m.

“We are thrilled to welcome Olivia to the NBC4 news team,” said Marina Perelman, NBC4 vice president of news. “She is an outstanding sports journalist who has national expertise and a deep knowledge of local teams.”

Garvey comes from WJLA in Washington, D.C., where she was the weekend sports anchor. Before that, she worked at NBC Palm Springs and for two seasons as a production assistant at the NFL Network’s NFL Total Access and NFL Redzone with Scott Hanson.

Her father is former Dodgers’ first baseman Steve Garvey.
