News Nation, Nexstar’s newest national news venture on WGN America, is staffing up.
Within the week, a Texas meteorologist and Chicago reporter have both made public announcements on Twitter that they’ll be leaving their current jobs to join the three-hour weekday newscast.
First, it was longtime KVUE meteorologist Albert Ramon who’s been at the Tegna station in Austin, Texas, for 10 years. His last day on the air will be May 20.

And just this week, longtime WGN-TV Chicago reporter Nancy Loo announced she’s heading to California to become WGN America’s West Coast correspondent.
“Reporting for @wgnnews the past decade has been incredible. I knew it would take just the right opportunity to get me to leave. Well, the stars have aligned and a new role will return me to my California roots.”

News Nation is set to launch in September. TVSpy reported in January that Nexstar said it would launch the nightly three-hour newscast after it acquired WGN-TV from Tribune.
