Nexstar Names Head of Local Content Development

Melissa Stacy has been named director of Local Content Development for Nexstar Media Group.

Nexstar says Stacy, who is the assistant news director of WFLA in Tampa, Fla., will “work across the Nexstar organization and with other corporate personnel, General Managers, News Directors and creative services teams to execute the Company’s strategies focused on brand development, local content leadership and excellence in viewer and client experience and service.”

“With Nexstar’s acquisition of Media General, an additional Director of Local Content Development was necessary to oversee our expanded local television portfolio and to maintain our industry-wide reputation of delivering exceptional local programming and service,” said Blake Russell, svp of Station Operations and Content Development of Nexstar Media Group.

Stacy started working for Media General in 1999 as assistant news director of WSLS in Roanoke, Va. (now owned by Graham Media Group) She was promoted to news director of WNCT in Greenville, N.C. and returned to WSLS three years later before joining WFLA in 2014.
