Molly Jirasek has been named news director of South Bend, Ind., ABC affiliate WBND.

The South bend native comes from NewsNation in Chicago, where she worked for three years.

“We are continuing to grow our ABC 57 News team, first with the addition of Jennifer Copeland as co-anchor of our early newscasts and now, bringing on Molly as News Director. These additions reinforce our place in the market as the most home-grown and experienced television newsroom in Michiana,” said station vice president and general manager Aaron Ramey. “Molly will take our news product to the next level.”

“I found my passion for journalism growing up watching the local news in Michiana. I consider it a great honor to serve my hometown community. My mission is to deliver news that matters to you, that you can trust, and offer complete transparency along the way,” said Jirasek.

Before working at NewsNation, Jirasek was the assistant news director at WEEK in Peoria, Ill. She started her career at WSJV and WSBT in South Bend where she was a multi-media journalist, producer and anchor.
