New information has come to light in the case of missing television anchor Jodi Huisentruit.

According to the US Sun, a private investigator said Huisentruit had a secret fling with a man 10 days before her disappearance.

Huisentruit went missing in Mason City, Iowa on June 27, 1995. When police arrived at her home around 7 am to conduct a welfare check, they found Huisentruit’s belongings scattered around her red Mazda Miata in the parking lot, including a woman’s red shoe and a bent car key.

According to police, there were also signs of a struggle and neighbors reported hearing screams.

“Through my digging, I learned that Jodi had a very secret ‘final fling’ with a man she met just ten days before she went missing,” Private Investigator Steve Ridge told The Sun.

The mystery man was later cleared by police.

The cold-case murder investigator has been working on the missing person case for years and “has no doubt that jealousy played a role in Jodi’s demise.”

Ridge discovered that the journalist’s red Mazda was a partial gift.

From The Sun:

By talking to the car salesman, Ridge found that the sale which was not complete at the time of her disappearance was done via a third party.

The salesman said that this third party said they would pay part of it as a gift and the rest would be for her to pay.

The private investigator believes that this extravagant gift shows the strength of admiration that someone may have had toward Huisentruit and the subsequent jealousy over her secret relationship.

“I think that third party is also another threat because of a relationship with Jodi,” Ridge said.

Last month, Ridge upped the reward for information that will help locate Huisentruit’s remains to $50,000.
