The man accused of holding a WANF crew hostage for more than an hour on Monday made his first court appearance.

Brandon R. Logan has been charged with terroristic threats, false imprisonment, public drunkenness, obstructing/hindering an emergency phone call, simple battery, simple assault, and loitering or prowling.

WANF reporter Asia Wilson and photojournalist Lauren Swaim were getting ready to go live from the Clayton County Sheriff’s office for the Atlanta CBS affiliate just before 11 p.m. on Monday when a man approached, said he had a gun and threatened to shoot them if they called for help.

The crew alerted the Atlanta News First newsroom. Authorities were contacted immediately.

The station said three station employees drove to the courthouse and flagged down a police cruiser along the way. Logan was taken into custody 90 minutes later. Police said no gun was found at the scene.

Wilson and Swaim were not injured in the incident and are recovering.

Logan’s bond was set at $11,000, and a preliminary hearing was set for January 24, 2024.
