No one was hurt after a man took a shot at Memphis Fox station WHBQ at around 11:30 a.m. local time yesterday.

The station said that the bullet (pictured) was fired from an AR-style rifle and fell outside of the front door of the lobby.

The alleged shooter has been identified as 25-year-old Jarred Nathan.

After taking the shot, Nathan barricaded himself in to an Ubee’s restaurant where he posted a Facebook Live video about the incident.

Memphis Police said officers took Nathan into custody about two hours after the shot was fired into WHBQ.

Station employees were evacuated for about 30 minutes before they went back to work safely.

Nathan first approached a FOX13 employee outside of the gate wanting to talk. The suspect then showed the FOX13 employee that he had a gun. The FOX13 employee then ended the conversation and left before Nathan went to the front of the building and fired a single shot.

Nathan’s parents called the station, saying that their son had been going through a mental episode. Another person identifying themselves as a friend of the shooter said that they planned on meeting him later today to take him to a shelter.

“I want the viewers to know that he’s not a bad person at all,” his mother said. “He one of the nicest and kindest you will meet. Everybody has another side to them. I think my son is crying out for attention because he needs some help. Anybody who would come to the news place and shoot at anybody, that is a cry for some help.”

Nathan’s parents and pastor came in to assist with crisis negotiators.
