Maggie Hockenberry has been named news director for Champaign, Ill., CBS affiliate WCIA.
Hockenberry is the first woman to ever lead the newsroom in the station’s 70 year history.
“I want this opportunity to show other women in this building and other women pursuing this industry — if you put in the hard work, it’s possible,” she told the Daily Journal.

She started working at the station in July of 2014 as a news reporter and was the currently the media manager.
