By Chris Ariens

Following the cancellation of the syndicated The Insider, co-host Louis Aguirre is returning to his local news roots and returning to Miami.

Aguirre is joining ABC affiliate WPLG where he will co-anchor the station’s weekday 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. newscasts and report for the 11 p.m. newscast.

Aguirre began his career at WPLG after graduating from the University of Miami in 1988. He had stints at EXTRA, A Current Affair, and Fox News before returning to Miami where he spent 14 years at WSVN, co-hosting its nightly Deco Drive. He moved to Los Angeles in 2014 as co-host of The Insider, which will run through August.
