Local News Has ‘No Agenda,’ Austin Anchor Says

Austin, Texas anchor Bryan Mays wants to set the record straight about local journalists.

Today on Twitter, the KVUE morning anchor sent a message to his followers as tensions between news media and its critics remain heightened.

“Local journalists aren’t playing politics,” he wrote. “We want everyone to be treated fairly and equally and we want everyone to be and remain healthy. That’s really it. No agenda in local journalism. I promise.”

As TVSpy has reported, reporters across the country have been harassed and assaulted in the field while covering recent protests about the response to Covid-19 and in the aftermath of George Floyd‘s death at the hands of Minneapolis police.

Just this week, a reporter at KSDK in St. Louis told her story about a man who approached her with a rifle right before a live shot.
