LeAnne Markins Named Station Manager of WKBW in Buffalo

LeAnne Markins has been promoted to WKBW station manager.

This is a new role at the E.W. Scripps-owned ABC affiliate in Buffalo, N.Y. Markins has been the creative services director at WKBW since 2020 and will continue in this role in addition to being station manager.

“LeAnne’s demonstrated success at WKBW and understanding of the station, market and strategic priorities make her a great fit to lead the station in this new role,” said Dean Littleton, senior vice president of local media for Scripps.

Since joining Scripps, Markins has led the station’s news and lifestyle content rebranding efforts, most recently premiering the 7News: A Voice for Everyone marketing campaign, which highlights 7News’ commitment to be an authentic community partner, hearing and sharing the voices of its neighbors and shining a spotlight on the great things happening in Western New York.

She also has evolved the station’s heritage linear lifestyle show, AM Buffalo, into the digital-first 7Life, which creates lifestyle and local business content for the station’s digital platforms and social media. Additionally, Markins has advanced the news department’s long-form community issues programming, Buffalo Strong Conversations.

“When arriving to Buffalo and 7WKBW a few years ago, I saw immediately why this is called ‘The city of good neighbors,’” said Markins. “Western New York is now home. I am thrilled to continue my career at Scripps and to keep serving our community alongside this incredible team at 7News.”

Markins previously spent 15 years with Buckeye Broadband in Toledo, Ohio, where she led the company’s regional sports network, BCSN, and community arts network, BCAN.
