Here’s the Roundup for the Week Ending December 15

In this week’s edition of stories we didn’t get to for one reason or another, we see two stories that made the rounds on the viral circuit, an anchor came out on air while another called out a viewer for being mean. Also, a new AI-generated newsroom plans to launch in early 2024.

Danita Harris, who joined WEWS in 1998 and rose to become one of Cleveland’s most beloved anchors as well as a prominent inspirational voice in Northeast Ohio, announced that she’s leaving News 5 Cleveland after nearly 25 years. Click here to read about it.

Taylor Bruck is an anchor for Spectrum News 1 in Ohio and, during a Nov. 26 broadcast, she decided to share a bit more about herself. “A seemingly simple yet scary word…” Bruck wrote in the caption of the video of the exchange she shared on TikTok. “I said ‘girlfriend’ on air for the first time today, which some people may say ‘ok, who cares?’ … but to me it’s a step toward accepting and loving myself fully and being authentic on and off the air.” Click here for the story.

Makenzi Henderson has taken a position at WDAY, the ABC affiliate in Fargo, N.D. She will be an anchor and producer of the station’s 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. newscasts. Her first day in Fargo, 3½ hours from her hometown in Minneapolis, was Tuesday. Click here to read about it.
