Kristen Skovira has been named co-anchor of the WCPO morning newscast.

Skoriva joins Adrian Whitsett on Wednesday, January 11, and replaces Julie O’Neill whose contract was not renewed and left the Cincinnati ABC station after 27 years.

“I’m so excited to join the WCPO 9 morning team and explore my new city,” Skovira said in a statement.

Cincinnati media writer John Kiesewetter said Skovira grew up watching her mother Karen do weekend weather forecasts for KWGN in Denver.

Skovira has worked at KIVI in Boise, Idaho since 2021. She’s also worked at KGWN in Cheyenne, Wyo., WINK in Fort Myers, Fla., KMGH in Denver, WTVF in Nashville and KRDO in Colorado Springs.

She left television in 2016 to work for the city of Boulder, Colorado as a multimedia producer and host of a weekly newscast highlighting city programs and residents.

“Kristen is a veteran journalist with a decade of experience and expertise in news. We are very excited to have Kristen join the WCPO 9 News family,” said Barry Fulmer, WCPO news director.
