KPNX Anchor Questions ‘Kill All Gays’ Pastor in Tough Six-Minute Live Interview

By Mark Joyella

KPNXIn an exclusive live interview Friday night, KPNX anchor Mark Curtis  spent six minutes questioning a Tempe pastor who says he hates homosexuals and believes they should be killed. “When I heard your sermon, it sounded like the rantings of someone who was either a hatemonger or a religious zealot, and I’m wondering, which are you,” Curtis asked Steven Anderson, pastor of the Faithful Word Baptist Church.

The interview was noteworthy for its length–a full six minutes–and in the way Curtis led the questioning. It was excellent television.

Anderson’s recent sermon, uploaded to YouTube a week ago, promises an “AIDS-free Christmas” if all LGBT people are killed, as he insists the Bible demands. Asked repeatedly by Curtis what he would do if a son or daughter of his was homosexual–something Anderson insisted could not happen–the pastor finally answered that they should also die.
