WNBC, KNBC Add 7 PM Newscasts

NBC’s two largest owned stations, WNBC in New York and KNBC in Los Angeles, are adding 7 p.m. newscasts starting Monday.

To make room for the shows, the stations will move Access Hollywood to 7:30 p.m. and will push companion entertainment show All Access off the schedule. (Access Daily continues at noon on KNBC and 1 p.m. on WNBC.)

KNBC’s 30-minute newscast will be anchored by Colleen Williams and meteorologist Melissa Magee.

“The addition of NBC4’s 7 p.m. news offers an important time when viewers are seeking the latest news and catching up on the day’s top stories,” said KNBC vp of news Renee Washington. “This newscast offers an opportunity to provide critical information and dive deeper into stories that matter to the diverse communities we serve throughout the Southland.”

From 2007-2009, WNBC produced a 7 p.m. newscast called New York Nightly News, anchored by Chuck Scarborough.
