Los Angeles NBC owned station KNBC is adding news to fill the hole left by Ellen DeGeneres ending her afternoon talk show last month after 19 seasons.
Starting September 12*, KNBC is adding a 3 p.m. newscast—followed by NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt leading into its 4 p.m. newscast.
“The addition of the 3 p.m. newscast on NBC4 kicks off an extensive block of hard-hitting storytelling and breaking news coverage as it happens,” said KNBC vp of News Renee Washington. “The station is further strengthening its promise to deliver comprehensive reporting on the stories and news from our communities that our viewers care about.”
There’s no word on who will anchor the added newscast.
“Viewers can now find NBC4 newscasts and other original content on their favorite streaming channel, 24/7,” said Todd Mokhtari, president and gm of KNBC and Telemundo 52. “Our goal is to continue to expand our footprint on multiple platforms to serve the vast and diverse communities in our unique market.”

- NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt at 3:30 p.m. (replaces The Ellen DeGeneres Show)
- NBC4 News at 4 p.m.
- NBC4 News at 5 p.m.
- NBC4 News at 6 p.m.
- NBC4 Nightly News with Lester Holt at 6:30 p.m.
- NBC4 News at 7:00 p.m.
