Jack Acosta has been hired as the news director for Gannett’s San Antonio CBS affiliate KENS.
Acosta was the assistant news director at Gannett’s KHOU in Houston. He started as a producer in 2005. He’s also worked at WABC in New York, and KTRK in Houston.
“KENS is a great station with great people and a great history,” Acosta told Houston media blogger Mike McGuff. “I’m excited to be part of what is going to be a great future.”

According to Rick Gevers, KHOU news director Philip Bruce told staffers, “What I saw in him was a guy who comes to work every day, ready to do whatever it takes to win. Someone who loves being in the newsroom, pushing buttons, making things dance across the screen.”
