KDFW has hired a new meteorologist.

Starting next week Alberto Romero will join the Fox 4 weather team in Dallas. He will report the weather across all newscasts.

“Alberto’s field military experience – being able to quickly and accurately assess weather conditions – will be an asset to the FOX 4 team and to our viewers,” said Robin Whitmeyer.

Romero has spent most of his career in Texas. He comes from Tyler where he worked as a meteorologist for KYTX. Before that he worked for Texas Cable News. Prior to landing a job in broadcasting, he spent eight years as a staff segment, weather forecasters and weather officer for the Air Force.

“While the weather in the southern United States is among some of the most challenging and destructive in the world, I look forward to serving the people of North Texas with the weather expertise I bring from years of forecasting – both civil and military,” said Romero.

His first day at the station is January 8.
