KPRC weekend anchor Syan Rhodes came back to the Houston NBC affiliate after being off the air for a month to announce she is leaving the station.

Rhodes also announced the news on social media, saying that this would be her last week at KPRC.

“It has been a blessing to come back to my hometown and serve my community as an advocate for truth and a voice for the voiceless,” she said. “I am forever grateful for how you have embraced me and supported me for nearly 9 years, welcoming me into your homes, literally and figuratively, to tell stories that matter.”

She also explained her absence by saying she became a licensed foster parent and took time off to get acquainted “with the little one.”

Rhodes joined KPRC in 2014 from WESH in Orlando. Before that, she worked at WMC in Memphis, WBIR in Knoxville, and at KETK in Tyler, Texas.
