Here’s the Roundup for the Week Ending December 22

Happy Friday to all who celebrate! In this week’s edition of stories we didn’t get to for one reason or another, we see a New Orleans station is making plans for its future (pictured), while a Graham Media station has a new news director.

Gray Television, Inc. announced its appointment of Bruce Austin as the next general manager of WVLT and WBXX, the local CBS and CW affiliates, in Knoxville, Tennessee. Click here to read the press release.

Thomas Garverick will be anchoring alongside Rebecca Brumfield for the WMBD 5, 6, 9, and 10 p.m. newscasts on the Peoria, Illinois CBS station Monday through Friday. Click here for the story.

Longtime Raleigh reporter reporter and podcaster Amanda Lamb has announced her departure from WRAL, saying her last day will be in early January. “I am leaving Capitol Broadcasting after almost 30 years. It’s hard to believe that I’ve lived more than half of my life in front of the camera at WRAL.” Click here for more.

Marissa Mitchell has been named the main morning anchor for Fox 5 DC. Marissa will host from 6 to 11 a.m. on weekdays on the Fox-owned Washington, D.C. station. Click here for more.

Doug Garrett, a photojournalist for WINK in Ft. Myers, Florida died unexpectedly over the weekend of November 25. He had been with WINK News since 2017 and is being remembered by WINK News as a passionate journalist who cared for the community. Click here to read the story on TVNewsCheck.

Little Rock station KTHV announced this week that Rolly Hoyt will co-anchor the station’s 10 p.m. newscast beginning in January, as legendary broadcaster Craig O’Neill signs off the air.  Click here for more.

Graham Media’s NBC affiliate WDIV in Detroit, has promoted Jennifer Wallace Canine from assistant news director to news director, effective immediately. Click here for the story.

On Thurs., December 21, WVUE vice president and general manager Mikel Schaefer announced a multi-million dollar deal to acquire new property for the New Orleans station’s future home. The station is also thrilled to announce that Xavier University acquired Fox 8′s current facility on S. Norman C. Francis Parkway. Click here to read about it.

In about two weeks, you’ll see a new face on Dayton, Ohio’s WDTN in in the morning. Caleb Michael will be joining the 2 NEWS Today crew starting Tuesday, January 2. Click here for more.

Raleigh, N.C. CBS station WNCN welcomes Greg Funderburg to Raleigh as the station’s new weekend evening co-anchor and weekday reporter. “We’re excited to welcome a journalist with Greg’s background to CBS 17. His experience
as an Anchor and Reporter will add to the depth of our storytelling and continue to enhance our Local News That Matters brand,” said news director Ed Trauschke.

Two familiar faces are moving to new places at Cleveland, Ohio station WEWS as Tiffany Tarpley returns to Northeast Ohio to anchor Good Morning Cleveland, and Damon Maloney departs weekend mornings to anchor News 5 at 5. Click here for more.
