KFSN reporter Alyssa Flores is leaving local TV to work for the communications team at the University of California Merced.
Flores announced the move on social media by saying that working as a reporter in local TV has been a “childhood dream come true.”
“I’ll treasure the countless memories and friendships with colleagues in Montana, Bakersfield and Fresno. (One of them even became my husband ♥️) I’m most grateful to my Aunt Cristina Flores and Uncle Scott R. McKane—journalists I’ve looked up to my whole life,” she said. “They showed me how to do this job with integrity and compassion. You’ve always been my biggest role models in career and life—and you always will be! The decision to move on from local news was heavy and emotional.”
McKane works at KSTU in Salt Lake City, Utah, while her aunt works at KUTV in Salt Lake City.
Before joining KFSN in 2020, Flores worked at KFBB in Helena, Montana, and at KERO in Bakersfield, California.
GV Wire points out that the ABC owned station has multiple reporter and anchor positions listed on its jobs website paying between $60,461 to $74,654 per year. Nexstar-owned KSEE-24/CBS 47 is offering $43,000.
