Former WVEC anchor Velma Scaife has died.

She worked at the Hampton Roads ABC affiliate for 31 years before taking the TEGNA buyout in April.

“Velma was warm, caring, and humorous,” wrote the station. “She always was willing to help co-workers, especially the parade of newcomers who joined the 13News Now team. She was a favorite of the photography staff and about as even-keeled as any person you’d meet. Unassuming, unshakeable, she was the consummate professional.”
