WNYW Talks to Charles Oakley About Incident at MSG

WNYW sports guy Duke Castiglione sat down with former Knicks player Charles Oakley following Oakley’s much publicized altercation and ejection from Madison Square Garden Wednesday.

The night Oakley got into a shoving match with security at MSG and was ejected and then arrested, the Knicks issued a statement saying they thought his behavior was inappropriate and they “hope he gets help.”

Oakley told Castiglione he wasn’t drinking in the Garden and was never told he wasn’t welcome in the arena. “If I wasn’t welcome, do you think I’d go there and know that I got a chance of being arrested?” said Oakley, who was charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal trespass.

“I’m not really looking at video. I know what I did. I came in. I was only there four minutes,” said Oakley. “So if I could rob a bank in four minutes, maybe that’s what it is. But I didn’t do nothing. I went to sit there with my guest and watch the game and they said they got orders that I had to leave.”

The team then released another statement saying “There are dozens of security staff, employees and NYPD that witnessed Oakley’s abusive behavior.”

“I know nothing about it,” said Oakley. “They got cameras following me all the way down to my seat. I didn’t get up until they walked over to me. It could always be a story after a story, you know how it goes, PR and stuff. I’m not looking for PR, I just want to be treated right.”
