Former Salt Lake City Anchor Hope Woodside Arrested for Two DUIs in Two Days

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

Former Salt Lake City KSTU anchor Hope Woodside faces a number of charges after she was pulled over for driving under the influence, twice in two days.

According to the Salt Lake City Tribune, on March 29 someone called police and complained that someone was drinking alcohol and driving around. Police pulled over Woodside for a traffic violation. They noticed a smell of alcohol on her breath and found a Diet Coke can with alcohol inside as well as a bottle of opened Chardonnay.

Woodside refused a breathalyzer and was booked into jail. She was released last that day after posting bail.

The next day, a Utah Patrol Trooper was called after someone ran a vehicle off the road. The responding trooper discovered it was once again Woodside. She said another car had swerved, causing her to crash into a snow bank. But when she got out of the car, according to court documents, she stumbled and tried to maintain balance. The trooper found an open container of alcohol in her car.

She was charged with two counts of DUI and two counts of having an open container, as well as traffic violations.

Woodside left FOX 13 after nearly 23 years anchoring the station’s 9 p.m. newscast. She had been off the air for a month, while considering what to do in the future.

Her attorney declined to comment to the Salt Lake City Tribune.
