Former KTVU anchor Frank Somerville has been arrested on suspicion of criminal threats, battery, public intoxication and probation violation, Berkeley police said.

Somerville was arrested Monday evening after a disturbance at his parents’ Berkeley Hills home.

Berkeley police were called to the home, which police said is owned by his brother, shortly after 6:30 p.m. to investigate reports that Somerville, 65, was drunk and violent.

Officers found Somerville being restrained by his brother when they arrived.

Fox owned station KTVU chose not to renew Somerville’s contract after a tumultuous 2021 that included an on-air incident and a suspension for disagreeing with the station’s coverage of the Gabby Petito murder case. He ended the year by getting arrested for DUI in Oakland on December 30, 2021.

Frank Somerville’s younger brother, Mark, told The Berkeley Scanner that Frank had shown up angry and threatened their father, who is 91.
