From Austin to Waco, now back to Austin.

Leslie Rangel has been hired as Good Day Austin’s newest co-host on Fox 7.

“I’ve kept an eye on Leslie since she interned here in college, so I know that she is the perfect fit for ‘Good Day Austin.’ Her great journalistic skills coupled with a deep understanding of our community will make her a valuable member of our team,” said vp and news director Pam Vaught.

Rangel spent time reporting in Austin, Oklahoma City and Beaumont before she took an evening anchor job in KWKT in Waco, Texas.

“Coming back to FOX 7 feels like coming home to my dream job. Seven years ago, when I did my senior internship at FOX 7 I fell in love with the people and made it my mission to one day come back. Austin is one of the most exciting cities in the country and it is an honor to have a front seat to history as a journalist who is going to help tell the ongoing story here,” she said.

She starts today and will co-host alongside Dave Froehlich and Amanda Salinas with meteorologist Zack Shields and traffic reporter Jane Lonsdale .
