Electric Flash Narrowly Misses San Antonio Meteorologist Covering Hurricane Laura

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

It was a very close call for KSAT meteorologist Justin Horne.

The San Antonio broadcaster was in the field covering Hurricane Laura in Orange, Texas, when a nearby transformer exploded behind him during a stand-up shot, casting off a sudden blue light.

Horne, who was about 100 yards away, jogged out of the shot to safety as sparks flashed in the tree behind him.

“That’s not good,” Horne can be heard saying in the video. “We’re going to get out of the way of that.”

The camera kept rolling and Horne finished his report.

No one was hurt.
