WFSB anchor Erin Connolly‘s 2-year-old daughter has tested positive for Covid-19.
The Connecticut anchor went on-air Thursday evening to talk about what her family has been going through since her daughter, who is named Connolly, tested positive on Monday.
“I report on it every day … but when it happens to you, it hits home in a completely different way. The good news is that we are all doing very well. Most of us are not exhibiting any symptoms. Connolly had a little bit of a fever. She’s a little cranky, a little clingy, but that’s ok,” said Connolly.
She believes her daughter might have contracted the virus from a teacher at her school, who tested positive. The rest of her family has also been tested, including her 5-year-old daughter, but only Connolly has tested positive so far.
“My nerves are shot,” she said in an interview from her home with anchor Irene O’Connor. “It’s nothing I ever wish for anyone to go through.”
Connolly said she hesitated about sharing her story but in the end hoped it would encourage others to be safe and take the necessary precautions.
“I want everyone to know, because if this is a reminder to one person out there to wear a mask, to socially distance, to take this seriously, to realize that Thanksgiving and Christmas aren’t going to be the normal holidays, then it’s worth it,” she said.
Connolly is anchoring evening newscasts from home while she looks after her family and remains in quarantine.
