Christine Buck Retiring From St. Louis Tribune Station

By Kevin Eck

Christine Buck is retiring after 39 years of working as a weather caster, news anchor, and reporter at Tribune-owned St. Louis CW affiliate KPLR.

The sister of Fox sports announcer Joe and daughter of Baseball Hall of Fame announcer Jack started at KPLR in 1977. Her last day will be Friday, April 22.

“For 39 years, Christine Buck has served St. Louis with a strong blend of news, information, and community,” said Spencer Koch, president and GM of KTVI-KPLR. “She showed true spirit when she helped launch KPLR’s News 11 at Noon, and the first 4:00 PM newscast in St. Louis. We will miss her ‘can do’ attitude, great sense of humor, and her passion for service. We wish her the best as she moves on to the next chapter of a full, wonderful life.”

Dan Gray will fill-in for Buck on the 4 p.m. newscast until the station can find a replacement.

“I’m grateful for this career and being able to do so many different jobs in one place,” said Buck. “I was able to balance my career, great marriage and being a mom to two incredible sons. It seems like the perfect time to exit now that I also have a wonderful daughter-in-law and a brilliant granddaughter on the way! I sincerely thank the St. Louis community for their support throughout these years.”
